Good project management is rarely visible when it is working well. What you notice instead is that things move, decisions land, and people know what they are doing and why.
I have worked on projects where that foundation was missing and on projects where we built it from the ground up. The difference in outcome is significant.
Efficiency never comes from working harder. It comes from designing the right foundation.
In yacht production, a new 26-foot prototype initially required around 1100 man-hours to complete. Through process design, clear roles and a structured workflow, that same build was reduced to 176 hours in series production. Not by pushing harder, but by designing the right foundation. The result was lower cost, predictable delivery and a measurable improvement in quality.
The same principles applied in renewable energy development. The original structure was on the heavy side, and with multiple turbines mounted on top of a distribution centre, that weight added up fast. Every kilogram was not just a number on one turbine, it was load the entire structure below had to carry.
Redesigning the structures and production methods cut component cost by 42 percent and reduced weight by close to 50 percent.
What connects these projects is not the sector. It is the approach. Understanding what the work actually requires, organising the people and resources around that clearly, and building a system that does not depend on one person to hold it together. In this case that means bringing in external manufacturers and structural engineers in my network to make it happen.
That is what I help organisations build. Not a plan that looks right on paper, but a foundation that holds under real conditions.
Magma Boats, a Hamburg-based manufacturer of high-performance sailing yachts, brought me in to get their V-easy design from strong concept to production, built by an external shipyard.
I brought in a structural engineer to get the weights right, simplified the build together with the designer, and worked directly with the shipyard building the hulls. Every piece of paperwork needed for CE certification was in place before the first hull went into the mould, backed by a complete, step by step production manual the yard could follow without guesswork.
The result was a significant reduction in mould investment, a lower cost price per vessel, considerably fewer labour hours per build, and higher, more consistent production quality.
